Do So-Called Diet Foods Actually Help Us Lose Weight?

If you shop, you probably notice a lot of competing diet foods that come packaged with labels that advertise they are the light, diet, or reduced calorie solution. But the US has a problem with overweight kids and adults, and we Americans purchase a lot of these "lite" foods.

What Should We Eat for Healthy Weight Loss?

High water content foods provide satisfaction without adding a lot of calories. They also tend to provide healthy vitamins and minerals. Almost all vegetables and fruits make good choices. They help us feel satisfied without adding a lot of calories.

Take Meat on the Side

We are not asking you to start eating like your pet bunny either! We are just asking you to try changing the way you approach your meals. We tend to take a lot of meat and bread, and then put a little salad or veggies on our plate. Instead, pile your plate high with salad and green beans. Then add a small portion of bread and protein.

Fruit is Nature's Wonder Food

Fruit is nature's candy, and even kids will be happy to grab handfuls of sweet grapes instead of junk food. You can eat a lot of grapes for the same calories you get in one candy bar. In fact, you will probably decide that you do not even want to eat that many grapes. You will be full.

Chocolate as Diet Food

Do you crave chocolate. Well, we say that is fine. Instead of eating a big candy bar, try having a large glass of low fat chocolate milk or a nice mug of hot chocolate. You will satisfy your chocolate craving, take in few calories, and satisfy yourself better. The milk also provides minerals and vitamins your body uses.

Food That Actually Take Away Calories

You can still enjoy your favorite foods. But if you dice up some veggies for your pasta sauce, you can reduce the amount of calories per serving. You can still eat the same portions, and even take seconds, without adding calories to your diet. If you feel satisfied that you have eaten enough food, you will be unlikely to overeat later too.

We have also found some foods that are very high in fiber so they contribute almost no calories to your diet. Konnyaku noodles are a popular example. These Japanese noodles are mostly water and fiber, and they provide satisfying pasta without a lot of calories or carbs.

What About A Night Out?

If you want to go to a pizza buffet, be sure and enjoy a large salad first. If you take ten minutes to enjoy a big salad, you will be less likely to stuff yourself on pizza. A big salad and two medium pizza slices is as filling as five pizza slices. You have saved your body a ton of fat and calories too.

Can you Find Working Diet Food?

Experts have tested diets. They found that people who concentrate on eating a lot of high water content and high fiber food, without giving up favorite treats, tend to take off weight and keep it off. - 31875
