Great Ways To Make Cooking More Healthy

Many diet guru's rant on about how terrible refined sugar is for you. So much so that many folks believe this substance to be toxic. The American Department of Agriculture doesn't agree, and loads of other health food experts moreover don't agree. To be on the safe side and ensure you and your family knows what is going into their treats, do your own healthy cooking and baking and don't purchase commercial cookies or cakes.

Even sugar friendly experts uphold that the empty calories provided by sugars can be replaced with more nourishing ways to increase and sustain energy levels. If you bake at home, you can keep everyone at home happy with some fantastic goodies and sneak in extra vitamins and minerals too, when no-one is looking.

One way to get children to eat vegetables when they won't is to mix grated veggies in with ground beef. I used this on my children when they were small so all bolognaise sauce had grated carrot or pumpkin or lentils with it, as did meatloaf, meatballs and hamburgers.

Muffin and cakes might be made with carrot and pumpkin with fruit, and there is nothing quite as delicious as carrot cake or pumpkin fritters and muffins. Pumpkin bread is what's more quite mouth-watering, particularly with additional sunflower, pumpkin and other seeds which are rich in the essential Omega fatty acid group.

Finding refined sugar guilty or innocent, there are many books on the health shelves of book stores which utterly condemn sugar. In saying that the only real documented reports are in regard to sugar and tooth decay. There are no other health proofs that patently declare sugar to be the criminal it is perceived to be by many of the health ranters.

You can still cook and bake and use sugar, but by making your own, rather than buying commercial cookies and cakes, you control how much sugar is used. Like all things, sugars in moderation are not all bad.

Take for example red wine and the fact that drinking a glass a day can extend life, and prevent all types of dreaded diseases as a consequence of the high Resevratrol content. And the best Resevratrol can only be found in the best concentrations if you drink red wine, because of the alcohol, and these two substances working hand-in-hand. Even the FDA admits that alcohol is bad for you, but red wine in moderation is incredibly advisable for good health.

Good health due to healthy cooking is simply attainable. It is about taking the middle road and using good old fashioned common sense. My way to go is if my Grandma wouldn't eat it, I won't and I won't feed it to my family either. - 31875
