The bottom line is that the majority of supplements are ineffective. The industry is simply way too unregulated to consistently produce quality products.

And it really pains me when I see women spending small fortunes on said supplements only to notice that they don't work. Now while the majority of supplements don't work, there are some that do work. But these are an exception.

And knowing what doesn't work is extremely important.

Thus, here are some supplements to avoid when trying to get toned arms:

1. Protein derivatives. In this case, amino acids. These used to be really popular and many people still take them regularly. The main issue here, however, is that taking too much of one amino acid can reduce the absorption of another.

2. Energy formulations. First we saw red bull, then a whole host of other companies hit the market each offering the next best bang. The main problem with all of these drinks and pills is that their high caffeine content wreaks havoc on the female body from many different physiological standpoints. Only use them in emergencies.

3. Meals in a bag. Meal replacements are everywhere. But the truth is that a bunch of powdery stuff in a bag will never be able to match a properly balanced meal in its nutritional entirety. Whole food simply has way too many undiscovered nutrients and compounds that supplements do not.

4. Protein powders. Your body loves things that digest slowly. Whenever you speed up digestion whether it be with sugar or protein powders, bad things can happen. In this case, recovery is optimized with slower digesting protein sources.

5. Dietary fat inhibitors. There are countless pills that block the absorption of dietary fat. Dietary fat, however, is critical for getting toned arms. Without it, you will compromise the integrity of your nervous system, immune system, and endocrinological system.
